Tallinn City Museum offers visitors an opportunity to get to know the life of boatmen in medieval and Early Modern Tallinnn. Anyone can take a boatman’s test to find out if they are ready to be accepten in the Boatmens’ Guild. The test includes challenges for both barin and brawn – but if you pass it you will receive a sealed certificate from the Alderman of the Boatmens’ Guild himself that you are admitted amongst its members and can take up boatman’s trade in the city harbour.
From 20.00 to 21.00 the visitors will also have the rare opportunity to have a glimpse of the museums medieval cellar that includes bot a well and a fireplace. The old storage rooms will be soon turned into an open depository for our collections of ceramics, pewter, brass, and copper.
