Come and celebrate Estonian Independence Day at the Kiek in de Kök fortifications museum. Meet the three lions from Estonian Coat of Arms, go to museum tours and participate in different workshops around the fortification ensemble.
The museum opens already at 8 o’clock, right after the flag is hoisted at Pikk Hermann tower. Take a look around and get a delicious Estonian breakfast at the Maiden Tower (book in advance: email@example.com)!
Great views are guaranteed at the pop-up cafe on the 6th floor of Kiek in de Kök. We offer warm soup, pasties and tea at the Komandandi Garden from 10 o’clock onwards. Come and warm yourself at a bonfire right in the middle of the city!
Various workshops (paper flag and brooch making, face painting etc) start at 9 and run throughout the day for kids and grownups alike. You can have a celebratory photo taken for the 101st birthday of Estonia and at 2 o’clock a marching workshop will be held at the Komandandi Garden by the Estonian Defence League.
Museum tours will be held in different languages. A tour in English with our guide Kadi Pilt starts at 1 o’clock and is called “A Petrified Past: the Stone Lions and Other Stories (Guided tour to the Carved Stone Museum)”.
Tickets (full 7€, reduced 4.5€, family 14€) cover all activities at the Kiek in de Kök fortification museum.
Our museum on Vene street 17 is also open on this holiday! There we showcase our fresh exhibition of Langebraun porcelain from Priidu Nõmm’s collections.
