The Brotherhood of Blackheads in Tallinn” received a Silver Egg in the environmental design category at the Golden Egg Awards (Kuldmuna) creativity competition.

The exhibition, which tells the colourful 625-year history of the Brotherhood of Blackheads, is playful and engaging. Visitors aren’t merely spectators – they’re fully immersed, as though they are young merchant apprentices surrounded by lively celebrations and activity. The exhibition’s characters interact directly with guests: they strike up conversations, invite them to assign roles for the festivities, accept food offerings, and even let visitors decide the winner of the parrot shooting contest.

The exhibition is like life itself: multifaceted, fun, and at the same time thought-provoking. The historical theme unfolds as a vivid experience, where visitors can explore, and actively participate.

Erika Saks, creative director of agency PULT, emphasizes the uniqueness of the recognition:
“Golden Egg is a competition where creativity is everything, ordinary simply doesn’t make the cut. If you blend in, you don’t belong in that frame. To be creative is to stand apart, and standing apart takes the courage to break from the norm. History may seem too serious, and museums too traditional for such boldness, yet even within a subject as demanding as history, we found a way to stand out and be truly creative.”

The Silver Egg recognizes not only the exhibition’s concept and design but also the team that has sought new ways to bring historical stories to audiences. Tallinn City Museum and Tallinn City Life Museum prove that history doesn’t have to be dull – it can be meaningful, playful, and bursting with creativity all at once.

See the exhibition video here.

Created in collaboration with the creative agency PULT, the exhibition “The Wealthy and Handsome.
