The\u00a0Great War<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Second World War<\/strong>\u00a0deeply hit the family of Alessio Franconi. The stories he collected about war convinced him to start a long journey exploring WW1 and WW2 battlefields. He crossed battlefields in more than 10 nations and he went along two mountain chains: the\u00a0Alps<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Carpathians.<\/strong><\/p>\n The outcome is the reportage\u00a0\u201cHere they fought!\u201d<\/strong>, a life commitment photographic project of the Author, to remember the sorrow caused by war.<\/p>\n The reportage has the patronage of the\u00a0European Commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The author elaborating on the spirit of the project commented:\u00a0“In the recent years I went to the battlefields where young people fought a hundred years ago and among the rocks I found their bones still scattered. A rather gruesome and at the same time impressive scene. On certain occasions I was accompanied by Erasmus friends and in silence we pondered on the thought that our grandfathers were often fighting each other in the opposing trenches. Thinking of how different the experience of those young people was compared with the life of their present-day peers, I cannot avoid to underline the role of European Union to ovoid such kind of tragedies between EU countries.
