For one Sunday, the Old Town has a special kind of flair!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the festival, you can peek into Pikk Street\u2019s courtyards, take part in workshops, browse a flea market, enjoy concerts and visit museums. Performance by the Un Canto children&#8217;s choir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The courtyard of the People\u2019s Museum of Tallinn is a place where time seems to stand still, and where you can sense the atmosphere of the city as it was a century ago. Many local residents have walked here over the years, including artist Ants Laikmaa, who rented a studio on the second floor. A range of outhouses and a blacksmith&#8217;s shop have been preserved in the courtyard. The area has been captured in photographs from previous decades, and it has also been depicted by artists. Painter, illustrator and art guru <strong>Katrina Kolk<\/strong> will be teaching people how to paint with acrylics. In the workshop, which will take place in Ants Laikmaa\u2019s old studio at Pikk 29a, you can learn about the artist\u2019s landscapes and the principles of the Pallas style of painting. Together, participants will analyse the structure and colour scheme of Laikmaa\u2019s works before getting the chance to create Pallas-style landscapes of their own based on a Laikmaa painting of their choice. It will explore how the street has been portrayed in Estonian literature and how authors have depicted Tallinn in their writing. The tour will also talk about the meeting places of the Siuru literary movement, the murder of printer Julius Wilhelm Lackner and other events in local literary history.<br \/>\nThe tour in Estonian will be led by <strong>Karoli Loo<\/strong>, the Visitor Services Manager from the People\u2019s Museum of Tallinn.
