NEW EXPOSITION!
Children´s museum Miiamilla is open again
“Children’s World Spaces”
The new permanent exhibition, with the working title “Children’s World Spaces”, will open January 13th 2024, and will remain open for at least seven years. The playful and methodical exhibition will explore the multifaceted world of the child and its growth. It also supports children’s mental health, gives them a better understanding of the world, develops social relationships and helps them acquire new knowledge. With these premises in mind, the new permanent exhibition presents the key cognitive environments in children’s lives, the worlds between which children’s lives pass – the inner world, the outer world and the world of imagination.
The Children’s Museum’s exhibition so far is about friendship and touches on the human values we all need to grow and develop.
WHAT MAKES THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?
“When choosing the theme for the new exhibit, the biggest goal was to think about what makes the world a better place and what we can do to make it a better place,” said head of the museum, Jane Meresmaa-Roos. “In today’s society, the common answer is empathy, which supports understanding differences, making sense of situations and building consensus. Children, a child psychologist and a parenting education specialist are involved in the creation of the permanent exhibition.”
With an environment and exhibitions that support social skills, the museum helps people to experience how to cope with their own emotions and understand those of others, to perceive their surroundings and to engage in creative play.
Museum lesson series and individual programmes are based on the pre-school curriculum and the national curriculum for primary schools. It will also work with the Bullying Free School programme, integrating the KiVa methodology into museum lessons
The construction contract was signed by the representatives of Tallinn City Museum and Motor OÜ.
