Organization
Tallinn City Museum is a municipal museum that encompasses a number of different sites both in Tallinn’s medieval Old Town as well as in the districts of Kadriorg and Kalamaja.
The museum was established in 1937 to preserve, present, and research the history and rich cultural heritage of Tallinn.
We currently run 9 museums:
- The City Museum in a medieval merchant’s house
- Kiek in de Kök and Fortifications Museum, a 15C artillery tower and 17C bastion tunnels
- Carved Stones Museum in a former bastion tunnel
- Neitsitorn museum-café in a city wall tower
- Museum of Photography in the old municipal prison
- Children’s museum Miiamilla in Kadriorg
- Kalamaja museum
- House of Peter the Great in Kadriorg
- Tallinn Russian Museum in the Old Town

Our logo cites a painting on the chest of privileges of the City of Tallinn dating from 1688.
