June 1
Sensory Storytime with therapy and reading dog Penni
Children’s Museum Miiamilla together with Estonian Therapy and Assistance Dogs Association believes that stories are for everyone — both little and big listeners. Also, for those who may find reading difficult. That is why we have created special sensory stories, which we share together with therapy dogs during our Special Monday.
A sensory story combines storytelling with playful sensory experiences. Alongside listening to and watching the story, participants can discover it through touch, scents, sounds, and simple visual elements. A dog handler and therapy dog are also part of the storytelling journey. Taking part in the activities and interacting with the dog is always optional.
The story is told in simple language, is short, and easy to follow, making it suitable for young children, as well as for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, and anyone who enjoy calm and sensory-friendly experiences. We kindly ask participants to come with a companion who can offer support if needed during the activities.
Time: June 1, 16-17:00
Group size: up to 6 participants together with companions or support persons
Duration: The full visit lasts up to 60 minutes, including up to 30 minutes of sensory storytelling.
Afterwards, families are welcome to explore the museum independently if they wish.
